1OAK (One of a Kind) was born from a journey that spans the country, but its heart has always been in North Carolina. Founder Harvey Jenkins is a native North Carolinian raised in a family of trained masons, where he learned that true craftsmanship is a legacy passed down through hands and stone.

A Design Language Gathered Across America

Harvey’s approach to hardscape is defined by the diverse architectural landscapes he has lived in. His design eye was sharpened not just by formal training at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, but by absorbing the distinct styles of the cities he has called home.

From the historic, monumental masonry of Washington D.C. and the bold, modern lines of Dallas, to the textured, organic landscapes of Seattle and the seamless indoor-outdoor living of California. Harvey brings a fusion of these influences to every project. This cross-country perspective allows 1OAK to offer design concepts that are truly unique to the Raleigh market.

From the Valley to the Oaks

Our company established its official roots on the West Coast, earning our CSLB license on June 15, 2017. However, our most important chapter began with a return home.

In 2019, Harvey and his family were living in the California Central Valley. Following the birth of their daughter, Alyx, who was born with a lung condition, the air quality of the Fresno valley became a serious health risk. The decision was made to relocate back to North Carolina to prioritize her health. We are proud to say that since returning to the clean air of the pines, Alyx has made a full recovery.

Designing for Circulation

Today, 1OAK leverages Harvey’s architectural background and national design influences to curate environments, not just install patios. We focus intensely on "circulation"—how you move through a space and how it connects to your home. We look at lines, light, and lifestyle to build outdoor living areas that feel intentional.
