Composite Decks in Raleigh & Wake County

The warmth of wood, without the summers of upkeep.

A composite deck gives you the warmth of a wood deck without the sanding, staining, and sealing that eats your summers. Premium boards shrug off our humidity and sun, so the deck you build looks the same in year ten as it did on day one.

Our approach

What’s included, and how we build it

What a 1OAK composite deck includes

The part you don't see is the part that matters most: a properly engineered, code-compliant substructure — footings, framing, ledger connection, and flashing — built to carry the deck and stand up to moisture. On top of that we install premium composite decking and railing from lines like Trex and TimberTech, with hidden fasteners and clean, deliberate board layout and picture-frame borders that separate a crafted deck from a builder-grade one.

How we approach Carolina weather and code

Our humidity and heavy rain are exactly what rot and warp wood, and composite is engineered to resist both — but only if the frame beneath it is detailed to shed water and ventilate. We build the substructure accordingly, flash the ledger correctly to protect your home, and construct to the North Carolina residential code, which governs footing depth, railing height, and structural connections. Elevated and most attached decks require a permit, and we handle that.

Common questions

Composite Decks, answered

How much does a composite deck cost in Raleigh?
Composite deck cost depends on the size and height, the board and railing lines you choose, and the substructure the design requires. Premium composite costs more up front than pressure-treated wood; we price materials at our cost with no markup and show the estimate in full so you can weigh the trade-off honestly.
Is composite really lower maintenance than wood?
Yes. Quality composite decking never needs sanding, staining, or sealing — routine cleaning is essentially all it asks — whereas a wood deck requires refinishing every few years to stay protected in our climate. Over the life of the deck that is a large difference in time and cost.
How long does a composite deck last?
Built on a sound, properly flashed substructure, a premium composite deck is designed to last decades, and the leading lines carry long manufacturer warranties on the boards. The framing beneath is what determines whether it reaches that lifespan, which is why we engineer it carefully.
Do I need a permit for a deck in Wake County?
Most elevated and attached decks require a building permit and inspections under the state residential code, which governs footings, connections, and railing. We manage the permitting and build to code so your deck passes inspection and stays safe.
