Pool Decks & Surrounds in Raleigh & Wake County

The resort you never have to leave.

The surface around your pool sets the entire mood — it is the difference between a backyard with a pool and a resort you never have to leave. We build pool decks that stay cool underfoot, resist slips, and frame the water in stone that ages beautifully.

Our approach

What’s included, and how we build it

What a 1OAK pool deck includes

We build on an engineered base graded precisely to carry water away from the pool and the house, and we select pavers or natural stone with slip-resistant texture and lighter tones that stay comfortable under bare feet in the Carolina sun. Coping — the transition at the pool's edge — is detailed for both safety and looks, and joints are sealed to stand up to splash-out, pool chemicals, and constant wet-dry cycling.

How we approach safety and code

Pool surrounds carry real requirements — slip resistance, proper slope, and barrier and fencing rules under North Carolina's residential code — and we design to them from the start. We coordinate drainage so standing water never becomes a hazard, and we tie the deck into the surrounding hardscape and landscape so the pool feels like the center of one integrated outdoor room, not a separate zone.

Common questions

Pool Decks & Surrounds, answered

How much does a pool deck cost in Raleigh?
Pool deck cost depends on the surface area, the paver or stone you select, coping and edge details, and the grading and drainage the site requires. We price materials at our cost with no markup, so the estimate reflects the real surface and craftsmanship rather than a margin.
What is the best material for a pool deck in our climate?
We favor pavers and natural stone with slip-resistant texture and lighter colors that reflect heat and stay cooler underfoot. They handle constant wet-dry cycling, resist pool chemicals, and can be individually reset — a meaningful advantage over a single poured surface around water.
Will the deck get too hot to walk on?
Material and color drive surface temperature. We steer clients toward lighter, heat-reflective pavers and stone specifically so the deck stays comfortable for bare feet through a Wake County summer.
Do you handle drainage and code requirements around the pool?
Yes. We grade for positive drainage away from the pool and house and design to the slip-resistance, slope, and barrier requirements in the state residential code, so your surround is safe and compliant as well as beautiful.
