Fire Pits in Raleigh & Wake County

The gravitational center of the backyard.

Fire is the oldest gathering technology there is. A well-built fire pit becomes the gravitational center of the backyard — the spot where the evening slows down and nobody's in a hurry to go inside.

Our approach

What’s included, and how we build it

What a 1OAK fire pit includes

We build fire pits in stone — gas or wood-burning — as permanent architecture, not a kit dropped on the lawn. That means a proper footing, fire-rated materials where they meet flame, and for gas features, a correctly sized and safely routed gas line with the right burner and ignition. We integrate the pit into the surrounding patio and seating so it feels designed in from the beginning.

How we approach placement and safety

Placement matters as much as construction. We position a fire pit with safe clearances from structures, overhangs, and property lines, orient it to prevailing wind and the view, and confirm any local requirements for gas work and open-flame features. For gas pits we bring in properly licensed connections; for wood-burning, we design for airflow and ember control so the feature is as safe as it is inviting.

Common questions

Fire Pits, answered

How much does a fire pit cost in Raleigh?
Cost depends on whether it is gas or wood-burning, the stone and size you choose, and — for gas — the run and connection of the gas line. We price materials at our supplier cost with no markup and detail it all in your estimate, so you are paying for the build, not a margin.
Gas or wood-burning — which is better?
It comes down to how you will use it. Gas offers instant, controllable flame with no smoke or cleanup and is easy to enjoy on a whim; wood-burning delivers the crackle, aroma, and larger fire many people associate with a real fire. We help you weigh convenience against ambiance and design for whichever you choose.
Is a built-in fire pit safe near my patio and house?
Yes, when it is designed with correct clearances, fire-rated materials, and — for gas — properly licensed connections. Safe placement relative to structures, overhangs, and wind is part of our design, not an afterthought.
Can a fire pit be used most of the year here?
Our relatively mild Wake County winters mean a fire pit meaningfully extends the outdoor season into the cooler months, turning spring and fall evenings — and many winter ones — into time spent outside rather than in.
